Family Trust Life Resource Center

The Family Trust Life Resource Center (FTLRC), Inc. is a 501c(3) not-for-profit formed in October 2018, to help us better serve our community worldwide.  Our focus is on low-income families with limited resources.  We believe the old Chinese proverb: "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day.  Teach him how to fish and you feed him for a lifetime."  In other words, we want to give them a "hand up, not a handout."

It is our desire to expose children and their families to the possibilities for their life.  Through the arts and education, we will help fine-tune their skills and assist them in discovering their gifts and talents.   It is our hope that we can help them to have a better life!

Bettie Brown Scholarship

To that end, we provide educational scholarships to deserving high school seniors.  Each student receives $500 to help with expenses.  In 2018, the scholarship was renamed the Bettie Brown Scholarship to honor a woman that overcame several odds to be the person she is today.   She is a senior citizens and one of our trustees that recognizes the importance of investing in our young people.  Although she was not afforded the opportunity to go to college, she values education and is an example of a life-long learner.

Scholarship Recipients:
Mya Ortiz  - SUNY Dutchess (2017), Matthew Perez - SUNY Albany (2017), Destiny Sanchez - SUNY Dutchess (2018), Sierra Shields - SUNY Albany (2019)

King's Kids II

The King's Kids is the overarching name of the youth programming.  The Roman numerals are affixed to document the history of the King's Kids.  The program, originally initiated in the nineties under the Ulster County Multi-Service Center, Inc., was started by Paula C. Childs.  At the time, she was a teacher in the Kingston City School District.  That program successfully ran for over two decades.

However, after marrying and moving out of the area, Paula resigned from the program and turned it over to the remaining staff.   Now a retired Elementary School Principal, Dr. Paula Childs Perez is replicating the program in her new region, under the auspices of the Family Trust Life Resource Center, Inc.; thus, the "King's Kids II" name.
